Safely Transporting The Past The Present and The Future
On June 27, five Kansas school bus drivers loaded their vehicles and headed to Austin, Texas for the 51st Edition of the School Bus Driver International Safety Competition. The competition, which brings the top six drivers from each state in the U.S. and provinces of Canada, was held June 28-29 at the Downtown Marriott. Representatives are invited by the International Committee to compete based on their placing and scores at their respective state/province competition. Each state/province is eligible to send up to six representatives.

While Kansas did not have any top three placings this year, we are told the state had the largest delegation in attendance. The following are the Kansas results for the 2025 International Competition:

  • Dorothy Dorman, First Student Wichita USD 259: Finished in 4th place.
  • Jerry Guerrero, Garden City USD 457: Finished in 6th place.
  • Mollie Cornwell, Derby USD 260: Finished in 7th place.
  • Nelven Smith, Seaman USD 345: Finished in 8th place.
  • Rebecca Stanton, First Student Wichita USD 259: Finished in 19th place.
